MU drops to 17 and 20 in the polls

In the AP poll Marquette dropped to #17 this week. The coaches gave MU a bigger hit and slid them down to #20.

That means Bucky is the favorite for this Saturday which is fine by me.

  1. I expected them to drop quite a bit, but not this much.

  2. In the longrun, Marquette's gonna be fine. I was gonna put them #1 in the Big East Basketball Report Poll until that loss but still, they're a Pittsburgh loss to Carnegie Mellon away from jumping back up.

  3. I think them droping to #20 is outrageous. Not like I care that much about what our rank is, but a perfect exammple is Wisconsin losing to Missouri State this year and only droped to #13 a couple weeks ago. W\E bring on the Hornets of Delaware State!
    GO MARQUETTE!!!!!

  4. As you may remember, we were never ranked last year in spite of #4 finnish in BE. The Coaches poll never seems to like us...

Does not matter w/o a win Saturday.

  5. With one true quality win and a loss to a minor, we are no different than ND State ourselves.

  6. I have to agree with the main feeling here. This was a much bigger drop than we deserved. A year ago Wisconsin only drops 2 spots (22 to 24) after losing to ND State themselves. It's hard to understand the rankings here, and maybe that's the point. They're made by humans, and humans aren't perfect.

There is no way that I'm ready to write this team off yet. Every team has their down games, and in a few months I know we won't be worrying about this game like we are now.

Just wait until after Saturday's game, we'll be fine. Go Marquette!

  7. I am not sure why I care about the polls so much. This stinks.
MU was bound to lose one of these games. There have been too many close games to subpar teams this year already.
Big game vs Bucky is what matters now.
    Ring out Ahoya!

  8. Look at the coaches poll, its so clear that they no idea what they're doing.

  9. I think we cracked the top 10 a little too early.

I'm guessing that the fast drop reflects some serious questions that a lot of voters in both polls had before we ever lost.

The Duke game was a huge win for the program and I loved it. But the fact is that it's one of the few complete games we've played this year.

I'd like to see us win a good game against the Badgers and then inch our way back into the top 15 with solid pre-conference play.

If I were a voter, I'd look for more consistency from this team before I put them back in the top 10.
