Confirmed: Maurice Acker transfers to Marquette

Ok, its a done deal for Maurice Acker -- according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Here's the Todd Rosiak story. The Chicago Sun-Times reported on Acker in their morning edition. Still nothing from MU, however.

Acker will be eligible for the 2007-2008 season, and will join a loaded Marquette backcourt. James, McNeal, Matthews, Hayward, Cubillan, Christopherson, and Mortensen - -wow. Yet other than Dominic James, Acker stands to be the only other pure point guard on the roster. In addition, Acker provides a security blanket if James leaves early for the NBA.

Welcome to MU, Maurice!

By our count, Tom Crean now has one available scholarship to offer for the upcoming 2006-2007 season.

According to a number of reports, Crean is actively recruiting both Lance Stemler and Josh Love, a pair of JUCO forwards.

  1. Been reading for a while now, guys...love the site.

Any chance Crean moves to a 3-guard offense next year?

  2. MU is already there. Until the Matthews injury, the three freshmen all started last season.....with Matthews out, Chapman stepped in. You'd have to expect more of the same next season given the makeup of the roster

  3. Bon Voyage!! Maurice. I don't know him personally, but he has a lot of growing up to do on the court. I hope the year off gives him time to mature on the court. As a BSU alumnus, I can't blame Acker for leaving. He was a less than average player on a team full of less than average players. In three years he could be a solid PG to beat the press. Good luck.

  4. Talk about sour grapes... MAC Freshman of the year, best player on the entire BSU team and Mr. Anonymous BSU alum calls 'Lil Reese' a "less than average" player.

Ummm... who was the last BSU player to win the MAC Freshman of the Year award?
