VANDER BLUE TO MARQUETTE

Todd Rosiak is reporting that Vander Blue, who de-committed from UW@Madison, has now committed to Marquette:

In a twist that is sure to add even more spice to what has already become a heated rivalry between in-state rivals, Madison Memorial star Vander Blue on Sunday orally committed to play for the Marquette Golden Eagles, roughly five months after announcing he wouldn't follow through on an oral commitment to play for the Wisconsin Badgers.

Blue, a 6-foot-4 senior guard, took an official visit to MU over the weekend, and was in attendance for 'MU Madness' at the Al McGuire Center on Friday night. Decked out from head to toe in MU gear, Blue appeared to be at home and enjoying himself as he took in the fesitivities, which included his best friend, Golden Eagles freshman forward Jeronne Maymon.

For more on the story, check out IWB's Sports Blog for plenty of comments from Blue and his mom.

As a consensus Top 40 recruit (if not higher), Vander joins fellow Top 100 recruit Jamail Jones in the 2010 recruiting class. Coach Buzz Williams and Marquette have locked up five Top 100 recruits in two years. And with two more spots in the 2010 recruiting class available, there may be even more potential yet.

Huge get! Congrats Buzz and welcome Vander! Next year's class is starting to come together after the whirlwind that has been the last 3 months. Buzz continues to impress.

Huge get for Buzz! Hopefully Vander's commitment causes some other top-flight talent to reconsider Marquette.

Also, Marquette has two more spots in that 2010 class, not one. There is NO WAY Monterale Clark is coming to MU after that rape allegation.

It was a huge "get" for Blue too! Now he attends a first class university in a first class conference with weekly national attention. He'll be an excellent addition for Marquette!

Even if the remaining recruits are better than average, I like where this team is going. We have two Top 50 guards next year in Junior and Vander Blue, some height and an attractive set of forwards. If this team gels, I'll promise to be there when they hang the "new" banner next to the one from 1977.

This is outstanding. Buzz has certainly delivered on the "recruiting" aspect of his experience. The next two years will be the important onces to make sure he can coach, but it sure makes life easier knowing you got some incredible athletes on the bench going to war for you.

And it was a needle in the eye to Bucky too. All the more sweeter
