Tom Crean to replace Pat Riley?

UPDATED:

ROFLMAO.

Well, here's one rumor-monger for ya (St. Paul Pioneer Press). -- Somebody must be competing with TC for a recruit.

Update: According to Rosiak's blog, when Coach Crean was asked about this, his response was classic:

"What was that in?" Crean asked. "Didn't see that. Must mean we're recruiting somebody in Minnesota."

I could see Crean doing it for the simple reason that he craves celebrity, as evidenced by his fawning over Mike McCarthy, Ben Sheets and Tony Larussa. But his cornball schtick would go over like a lead balloon with NBA players. Not only that, his cliche-ridden pseudo tough guy routine would be totally transparent to fans and media in any NBA city (other than Milwaukee). He may go, but it would be a disaster for him.

He's not going and we all know it. If anyone hasn't noticed, there have been some slow news days recently (look at all the coverage of Anna Nicole Smith) and an article like this is perfect timing. Crean will be here for a while, and no matter his disposition, I believe he will lead us to some very good times as well. Hopefully we can start that this year, too.
